Feast of All Saints
Feast of All Saints is an Anne Rice's novel about Les Gens De Couleur Libres (Free People of Color) in 19th century New Orleans. If you have not read the book or watched the film, you absolutely must! Although fictional, it offers a candid look at the culture of New Orleans during this time.
Here's Jennifer Beale speaking about her character in the film, Dolly Rose.
Another notable book in the same historical New Orleans genre is CANE RIVER by Lalita Tedemy - Amaaazing book ~ A must read!
